With a thicker quality tape which forms as a weed barrier for fewer weeds and faster growth seeds are positioned thinly along the tape, this means less time "thinning out" your rows and less seed wastage.

USING SEED TAPES

To achieve the best results you must provide the same preparation and aftercare that you would with any new seed bed.

DO NOT lay a seed tape on hard soil – provide good ‘fluffy’ soil under the tape. Apply 5mm of soil onto the top of the tape and keep moist until germination occurs.

How to Sow: Choose a well drained site in full sun. Sow direct where to grow in a warm, well prepared seedbed. Form a shallow trench / groove approximately 1cm deep and lay tape in it. These seeds are already spaced and attached to the tape. Cover with soil to a depth of 1cm and water well.

Care for seedling: Keep seedbed evenly moist during the germination period of 7-10 days. Apply McGregor’s VegeMax 2 weeks after germination for healthier plants and a maximum crop. Protect your vege garden from snails and slugs with McGregor’s Snail and Slug Bait and from White Butterfly with McGregor’s Derris Dust.

Hints & Tips: Basil, has for a long time, been the most popular herbs … now its even easier and quicker to sow. Seed tape can be easily cut with scissors to suit any sized container or requirement.
