Planting Instruction
  • How to Sow: Choose a well-drained site in full sun. Sow these seeds in trays for subsequent transplanting or, after frost, sow directly in a well prepared seedbed. Sow seeds thinly in rows 45 cm apart and to a depth of 5 mm. Later, transplant or thin to 20 cm apart.
  • Seedling Care: Keep the seedbed evenly moist during the germination period of 7-14 days. Apply vegetable fertiliser two weeks after germination for healthier plants and maximum crop. Protect your seedlings from slugs, snails and insect pests; go to mcgregors.co.nz for appropriate plant health and pest control products.
  • Hints & Tips: Harvest Mesclun lettuce while the leaves are still young and small. The lettuce will keep producing all spring if you pick the outer leaves first. Use sharp scissors or garden shears to cut the lettuce. Germination is impeded by temperatures over 23°C.
  • Our seeds are not treated with Neonicotinoids.
  • These seeds are not pasteurised.
