Watercress grows in streams ditches, springs and fast flowing waters. It has been used as a salad plant since at least Roman times. Besides being used in salads it can be put on sandwiches, used in soups and oriental stir-fry dishes.

Planting Instruction
  • How To Sow: Choose a water-rich site (such as a stream or pond) in full sun/part shade. Sow these seeds in constantly wet trays for subsequent transplanting or, after frosts, sow directly in a well prepared seedbed. Sow seeds 2 cm apart and to a depth of 5 mm. Seedling Care: Keep trays or seedbed evenly moist during the germination period of 7-10 days. Apply vegetable fertiliser two weeks after germination for healthier plants and maximum crop. Protect your seedlings from slugs, snails and insect pests; go to mcgregors.co.nz for appropriate plant health and pest control products. Hints and Tips: Cut shoots anytime for fresh greens in sandwiches and salads. Watercress has a fresh, clean peppery taste. Our seeds are not treated with Neonicotinoids.
